Expertly crafted from 100% Merino wool, the Mourne Tweed blanket is the epitome of comfort and warmth. First woven in 1964, this iconic blanket was originally referred to as the Irish Bedspread, used in a number of prominent Irish hotels, and was offered alongside our Maldwyn range of double weave blankets—known as the Welsh Bedspread. In the late 1960s, Hille also included this design within their furniture collection, recognising its timeless appeal.

Today, we have faithfully reproduced the Mourne Tweed blanket using custom-spun yarns from Donegal, carefully adhering to the original colourways. Steeped in heritage and crafted with care, this blanket combines traditional techniques with modern-day quality, making it a perfect addition to any interior or a thoughtful gift for those who appreciate true craftsmanship.

Created using two contrasting colours of yarn, the Maple Mourne Tweed blanket evokes the warm, earthy tones of autumn. The first yarn is an earthy grey-brown, subtly blended with warm undertones, while the second yarn brings a richer, autumnal hue with warm oranges, deep reds, and hints of yellow. 

Together, these tones intertwine to create a beautifully balanced fabric reminiscent of maple leaves in autumn, capturing the natural beauty of the Mourne landscape. This warm and inviting colour palette is perfect for adding a touch of seasonal warmth to any interior, making it both a stylish and practical choice for your home.
