Mourne Mist Offcut- Teal
Originally created by Gerd Hay-Edie and first used by renowned designer Robin Day for Hille in 1951, Mourne Mist became a defining fabric in his furniture collections throughout his decade-long collaboration with the brand. Its distinctive texture and timeless aesthetic made it a hallmark of mid-century design.
Now faithfully reintroduced by the weavers at Mourne Textiles, the Mourne Mist collection remains true to Gerd’s original vision. Woven with the same dedication to detail, it is a durable, mid-weight furnishing fabric designed to withstand everyday use while maintaining its elegant character. Its versatility makes it well-suited to a range of applications, from upholstered furniture to soft furnishings, bringing both heritage and longevity to contemporary interiors.
Drawing inspiration from the vivid brilliance of a kingfisher’s plumage, the Teal colourway is a striking fusion of depth and vibrancy. A soft grey warp lays the foundation, like the silvery sheen of river stones beneath flowing water, while the bold teal weft brings an unexpected burst of colour—rich and saturated, reminiscent of sunlit lakes and the iridescent flash of a bird in flight. This harmonious contrast creates a sense of movement and life within the weave, much like ripples dancing across a still pond.
The interplay of cool grey and luminous teal evokes the natural beauty of forest pools and hidden lagoons, where light refracts through the water’s surface in shifting shades of blue and green. A captivating choice for interiors, this colourway brings both energy and elegance, infusing any space with the refreshing tranquility of the wild landscape.
This shorter length is ideal for smaller creative projects such as homeware or upholstery. To keep costs down, the fabric will be sent folded in sustainable packaging.
