Placemats - Dash

£106.00

Originally designed in the 1950s by Gerd Hay-Edie, the Mourne Dash fabric lay quietly hidden for decades—discovered as a small woven sample at the bottom of an old trunk in our archives. With careful attention and craftsmanship, our weavers pieced the design back together using Gerd’s original handwritten notes, reviving a forgotten gem of mid-century textile design. The result is a timeless yet contemporary fabric that now finds new life in our Mourne Dash placemats.

Woven from a considered blend of wool and linen yarns, these placemats feature a rhythmic dash-like motif—a distinctive design element that offers a refined sense of movement and texture. The interplay of natural fibres brings both visual depth and tactile richness to the table, while the strong, durable weave ensures the fabric can withstand everyday use without compromising on elegance.

Each placemat is crafted on our vintage looms in the Mourne Mountains, where traditional techniques and thoughtful material choices come together to create something truly unique. The linen adds a crisp structure, while the wool contributes warmth and softness—making these placemats as practical as they are beautiful.

Whether used every day or saved for special occasions, the Mourne Dash placemats will add a sophisticated, heritage-inspired touch to your dining setting. A celebration of design history and artisanal skill, they make a thoughtful gift or a distinctive addition to any considered home.
