Mourne Check Table Runner - Blackberry

£125.00

Originally created by Gerd Hay-Edie and famously used by designer Robin Day for Hille in the early 1950s, the Mourne Check has become one of our most iconic weaves—celebrated for its bold simplicity and enduring appeal. Today, this timeless design continues to be woven at our mill using a robust mix of wool and linen, honouring its mid-century origins while remaining perfectly suited to modern interiors.

The Mourne Check Blackberry table runner showcases the dramatic richness of natural, darker tones—evocative of moorland hedgerows and the inky purple-black of ripe blackberries glistening in the late summer sun. The weave pairs black wool with stark black linen to create a beautifully textured surface, offering subtle contrast and depth. This monochromatic palette lends a quiet strength to the fabric, mirroring the stillness of twilight and the shadowed slopes of the Mourne Mountains.

Woven on vintage looms using traditional techniques, the table runner is designed to be both durable and refined. Whether layered with complementary tones or used as a dramatic centrepiece, the Blackberry colourway adds a grounding, elegant presence to your dining table—bringing together natural inspiration, heritage design and expert craftsmanship in every thread.
