The Maldwyn Dot blanket is a more recent design in the Mourne Textiles range, using 100% wool and originating from a pattern that Gerd Hay-Edie first created in 1933. Named after Maldwyn, the skilled weaver Gerd collaborated with in Wales to develop this fabric, the blanket is a testament to their combined craftsmanship and vision.
Gerd wove this classic mid-century design a few times during her career, and during the 1930s, the esteemed lifestyle designer Gordon Russell used this weave to upholster chairs and sofas in his London collection.
The standout feature of this blanket lies in its double weave fabric—a specialised technique that creates reversible ‘dots’ on either side, giving it a unique, double-sided texture. Both sides are equally captivating, offering two distinct looks in one luxurious piece.
Perfect for adding a layer of warmth and timeless style, this blanket is as visually intriguing as it is practical, a testament to Gerd Hay-Edie's rich design heritage. Whether draped over your favourite chair or wrapped around you for extra cosiness, the Maldwyn Dot blanket is a stunning addition to any home.
The Maldwyn Dot Blanket in Sand features a vibrant interplay of colours, with the striking bright yellow yarn creating a bold contrast against a pale, neutral base. This clever combination brings the double weave fabric to life, making the distinctive 'dots' stand out beautifully.
The netural tones of the pale yarn add balance, while the vibrant yellow evokes the warmth of sunlit sands and rolling countryside, adding depth and dimension to the overall design. The two yarns work harmoniously to produce a rich, textured finish, making this blanket a standout piece in any interior.
Perfect for those who appreciate craftsmanship, heritage, and a bold pop of colour, the Maldwyn Dot in Sand is a timeless addition to your home.
