A fabric  designed especially by Gerd Hay-Edie for Irish fashion designer Sybil Connolly's 1956 Spring collection, Mourne's Mended Tweed was a real talking point amongst the fashion elite.

An unusual layered weave, the cloth acquires it's organic, tactile quality from 'wild' traditional spun Pure Merino Donegal yarn, which creates beautiful flecks throughout, making each blanket completely unique.

An unusual weave, the cloth acquires it's tactile, organic quality from 'wild' traditionally spun Pure Merino Donegal yarn. The Mended Tweed Black and White design was part of the Irish bedspread collection supplied to Hille during the 1960's.

The vibrant Mourne Mist weave was originally designed in 1952. Hille, the British furniture manufacturer, used this design to upholster furniture by Robin Day, one of the 20th Century's most significant furniture designers.

This range comes in an eclectic range of colours. These colours were inspired by yarn ends that we discovered in Gerd Hay-Edie's archives, in our workshop store room.

The fringe on the reverse of each Mourne Mist cushion has a different colour to the rest of the fabric: a unique design element that we developed on our looms.

Created by Gerd Hay-Edie and used by designer Robin Day for Hille in 1951, the Mourne Check was to become a signature fabric widely used for much of his furniture during his ten year period designing for the brand.

Proud to bring the Check back into production, our weavers pay careful attention to remain true to Gerd's archetypal designs. This durable linen, wool and cotton mix is carefully handwoven on the Kentish looms originally imported in the 1950's, with colours matched from original heritage palettes.

The highly acclaimed Shaggy Dog Tweed, designed and handwoven for Sybil Connolly's 1956 Winter collection turned heads when it made it's debut as a black tweed clutch coat lined with white satin.

Today, our weavers have revived this distinctive design and created a playful cushion using custom spun Pure Merino woollen Donegal yarn. Almost 60 years old, the aptly named Shaggy Dog continues to uphold it's contemporary style.

A fabric designed by Gerd Hay-Edie and made famous by Irish fashion designer Sybil Connolly as part of her 1956 Spring collection, the Tweed Emphasize throw is an exquisite example of mid-century style. Using 'wild' spun yarn from Donegal which produces a highly textured, dappled appearance, each woven throw is completely unique, durable and rich in heritage.

Drawing inspiration from nature, woven on industrial looms almost a century old, Mourne Textile’s new range of luxury scarves keep cold at bay. They are crafted from materials such as Merino Wool, Cashmere, Mohair Loop, and Silk, in colours that include Indigo and textured Grey.

 
These scarves are woven on vintage shuttle looms in our workshop at the foothills of the Mourne Mountains in Northern Ireland. Our Hattersley looms, first developed in 1919, are tried and tested over decades, creating a rich weave and woven selvedge. The scarf designs and colours are inspired by the landscape of the Mourne peninsula.
