Mourne Check Offcut - Bilberry

The Mourne Check fabric embodies heritage design and enduring craftsmanship, originating from the innovative vision of Gerd Hay-Edie. First created in collaboration with renowned designer Robin Day, this fabric became a defining element of his furniture for Hille in 1951, remaining a hallmark of mid-century style throughout his ten-year tenure with the brand.

The Mourne Check Bilberry is  inspired by the stunning natural beauty of the Mourne Mountains, where wild bilberries grow among the heather on the rugged slopes. The rich cornflower blue dyed wool yarn evokes the deep, subtle tones of these berries, set against the stark black linen yarn. This contrast deepens the blue, creating a rich, captivating hue that mirrors the landscape’s serene yet dramatic vistas.

This shorter length is ideal for smaller creative projects such as homeware or upholstery. To keep costs down, the fabric will be sent folded in sustainable packaging.
